Baker Newman Noyes Announces 15 Senior Promotions

Baker Newman Noyes (BNN), a nationally recognized top 100 accounting and advisory firm, is excited to announce 15 senior-level promotions and an additional 19 promotions for experienced staff across its Portsmouth, NH; Manchester, NH; Woburn, MA; Boston, MA; and Portland, ME offices.

Boston, Massachusetts 

  • Nicholas Amann, CPA, MSA, has been promoted to Senior Manager in the Tax practice, specializing in multi-generational, owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals. His primary focus is on operating S-corporations and partnerships in the manufacturing and consumer products industries. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of New Hampshire. 
  • Michael Burns, CPA, MSA, has been promoted to manager in the assurance practice. He specializes in providing auditing services to private companies in the nonprofit, commercial, life science, and healthcare industries, as well as internal controls work and SOX compliance engagements. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, and his master’s degree in accounting from The University of New Hampshire. 
  • Zachary Smargon, CPA, MSA, has been promoted to senior manager in the assurance practice. He has experience managing the day-to-day accounting tasks, monthly financial statement close process, evaluating and implementing best practices and aiding in the completion of annual audits for life sciences, commercial technology, and nonprofit companies. Smargon earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, and his master’s degree in accounting from The University of New Hampshire. 

The following employees in the Boston office were also promoted: Megan Clifford has been promoted to supervisor in the CAAS practice; Tucker Erdody has been promoted to senior in the assurance practice; Tyler Popp has been promoted to supervisor in the assurance practice; and Madison Renken has been promoted to senior in the assurance practice. 

 Woburn, Massachusetts 

  • Madeleine Lang has been promoted to Transfer Pricing Manager, specializing in providing transfer pricing compliance and consulting services to support clients with U.S. and international operations. She brings specific experience in analyzing and documenting clients’ cross-border intercompany transactions and pricing policies and providing value chain transformation services to support clients in optimizing their business, tax, and legal operating models. Lang earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Villanova University. 
  • Daniel Sheldon has been promoted to Manager in the Tax practice. He specializes in corporate income tax accounting under ASC 740, corporate tax planning and compliance, and international and state and local tax compliance. Sheldon has helped a variety of innovative organizations in the technology/SAAS sectors navigate the complex and rapidly evolving tax landscape.  

The following employee in the Woburn office was also promoted: Nina Lavigne has been promoted to Senior in the Tax practice. 

Manchester, New Hampshire 

  • Madeline Moynihan, CPA, MSA, has been promoted to Senior Manager in the Tax practice. As a member of one of the pass-through groups, she focuses primarily on federal and state tax compliance and planning for closely held businesses, including partnerships and S corporations, as well as for individuals. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an option in accounting and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of New Hampshire. 
  • Harrison Murphy, CPA, MSA/F, has been promoted to Manager in BNN’s Tax practice. He specializes in tax compliance, planning, and advisory for passthrough entities and their owners. He has specific experience working directly with multi-state and foreign manufacturing entities, as well as high-net-worth individuals. Murphy received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and master’s degree in accounting and finance from Southern New Hampshire University. 

The following employees in the Manchester office were also promoted: Alexis DeBlois has been promoted to Senior in the Assurance practice; Nikolaos Gavrielides has been promoted to Senior in the Assurance practice; and Nathan Newton has been promoted to Senior in the Assurance practice. 

Portsmouth, New Hampshire 

  • Megan Elwell, CPA, MSA, has been promoted to manager in the Assurance practice. Elwell specializes in banking, compliance, and employee benefit plans. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s in accounting from the University of New Hampshire. 
  • Meghan Yarosewick, PMP, has been promoted to Manager in the Business and Technology Advisory practice at BNN. She supports clients with project management, program development, system selection and implementation, and process redesign. She received a bachelor’s degree in health management and policy from the University of New Hampshire. 

The following employees in the Portsmouth office were also promoted: Matthew Fernandes has been promoted to Technical Solutions Analyst in the IT Department; and Emily Lynch has been promoted to Senior in the Tax practice. 

Portland, Maine 

  • Adam Hart has been promoted to Information Technology Systems Manager in the IT Department, where he leads the firm’s technology operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and end-user computing initiatives.
  • Gage Kennedy, MBA, has been promoted to Manager in the Tax practice. He specializes in tax planning and compliance for closely held businesses, partnerships, S corporation, and high-net-worth individuals. Kennedy earned his bachelor’s in accounting and master’s in business administration from Husson University. 
  • Evangeline McCarthy, CPA, MSA, has been promoted to Manager in the Assurance practice, where she specializes in providing audit and assurance services to commercial businesses and financial institutions. In addition, McCarthy has experience with audits of employee benefit plans and providing audit services to nonprofit clients. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Maine and her master’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut. 
  • Andrew Murry, CPA, MBA, has been promoted to Senior Manager in the Assurance practice. He specializes in healthcare organizations and nonprofit entities. He also has experience performing a variety of compliance audits, including Uniform Guidance and MAAP audits. Murry received a bachelor’s degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from the University of Hartford, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine. 
  • Nathan Perry, CPA, has been promoted to Manager in the Assurance practice where he specializes in providing auditing and assurance services for banks, credit unions, and commercial businesses. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his master’s degree in business administration, with a focus on accounting from the University of Maine. 
  • Nathan Somes, CPA, MBA, has been promoted to Senior Manager in the Tax practice at BNN. He joined the firm in 2018 after completing tax internships in the Portland office. He specializes in providing support and tax planning to individuals and primarily closely-held businesses, including LLCs, partnerships, and S Corporations. Somes holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine
