Senior Manager

“The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.”
– Jimmy Johnson

Nathan Somes is a senior manager in the tax department at BNN. He joined the firm in 2018 after completing tax internships in the Portland office. He specializes in providing support and tax planning to individuals and primarily closely-held businesses, including LLCs, partnerships, and S-Corporations.

Nate specializes in working with clients in the construction and real estate industries, including commercial and residential developers, investors, brokers, and property managers.

Clients who work with Nate can expect a quick response time, a willingness to help with any question that may arise, and a positive attitude toward every situation. Nate finds tax work to be like a puzzle and loves the challenge of gathering a client’s information, working through the details, and finding the most effective path to minimize their tax liability. He thinks the work is incredibly rewarding and satisfying, and each new client presents a fresh opportunity to learn and navigate unique situations.

Nate holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine.

Three Things You Don’t Know About Me:

  • I love all things country music, but Shania Twain will always be at the top.
  • I’ve ran a marathon and am still an avid runner, even though my knees might say otherwise.
  • My first car was a black Volvo, and when I got rid of it, it had over 540,000 miles on it. Missing a door panel and the radio as well, obviously.
