Baker Newman Noyes restructures Advisory Practice highlighting a holistic approach to client delivery and strategy

Firm integrates current advisory verticals into one practice under new leadership

Baker Newman Noyes (BNN), a nationally recognized, top 100 accounting and advisory firm, announced today that their current advisory teams are now operating under one Advisory Practice. This change integrates the firm’s longstanding Healthcare Advisory and Business & Technology Advisory teams into one strategic practice. Current BNN Principal Ilona Davis, PMP will lead the new practice, which includes a team of 17 advisory professionals.

“This change marks an exciting opportunity and milestone for BNN,” said Dayton Benway, Managing Principal of Baker Newman Noyes. “We are entering a new phase, and one that comes from listening to the needs of our clients and the marketplace and responding with positive and impactful change in our business. By combining our excellent advisory resources and talent under one practice, we are better positioned to bring value to our clients, develop and support our people, and continue to strategically grow the firm.”

The new BNN Advisory Practice provides business, technology, and management consulting services for companies of all sizes and across industries, as well as specialty revenue management, third-party reimbursement services, system selection and implementation, process redesign, and governance services for the healthcare industry. The team offers certified expertise in a variety of areas, including PMP, MBA, CPA, FHFMA, COC, and MHA.

Stepping into the new leadership role, Davis plans to continue to grow, expand, and optimize the advisory offerings based on the needs of BNN’s current clients and across industries in the broader market. The healthcare industry will continue to be a key specialty of the practice, following on BNN’s more than two decades of providing specialty consulting and financial services to healthcare organizations. Davis plans to grow the suite of services for this complex industry, as well as develop new ways to package all of Advisory’s services to healthcare clients.

“We have spent the last decade listening and pivoting to our clients’ business needs to provide the utmost value and tailored client service,” said Davis. “Time and time again we have proven that our clients’ most pressing needs are centered around the successful intersection of their technology, strategy, and processes, including optimizing their investment in related efficiencies. Grouping services around governance, technology strategy, business strategy, process redesign, and project management has always been one of the firm’s key advisory differentiators. This means we are well positioned to hit the ground running and go-to-market with a new team structure and deliberate advisory plan based on already proven approaches for our clients, now and in the future.

Davis has been with BNN since 2012. Prior to taking on the Advisory Practice lead role, she founded and led the firm’s Business & Technology Advisory group, one of the teams that is incorporated in the new practice. C-level executives and Boards of Directors turn to Davis for her strategic and holistic perspective to governance, business and IT structure, process improvement, and overall project management that prioritizes accountability, culture, and people. She is a founding member of the BNN Women’s Committee and has participated in various women’s leadership and development initiatives, as well as firm oriented strategic initiatives.

Davis places high importance on her role in mentoring and fostering positive culture amongst her team, and throughout the entire firm. A Bentley University alumna, Davis currently resides in Falmouth with her spouse and two children, who she cites as her most important clients. She enjoys participating in her community by way of assisting with coaching her daughter’s lacrosse team and volunteering her time in the local school system.

“On behalf of the Partner Group and everyone at BNN, we are looking forward to what Ilona’s leadership and unique skillset will bring for our advisory services and how that impact will spread throughout the firm,” said Benway. “I am also excited to be adding another incredibly talented professional to our leadership group. I know Ilona’s guidance and mentorship will be invaluable for developing and supporting our people and the next generation at BNN.”

“I am honored to be transitioning into this new role and leading the continued development of BNN’s advisory services,” said Davis. “Our vision is that the Advisory Practice will have a strong focus on business and relationship development and excellent client delivery, which we know go hand in hand. I also look forward to supporting the continued development and growth of our excellent advisory bench and finding new opportunities for each member of the team to grow themselves and their career. I stand behind making our people feel valued as they add value for our clients.”

Advisory joins the firm’s two established Tax and Assurance practices, led by Michael Stillings, CPA and Rick Cyr, CPA, respectively. With more than 300 employees and 39 partners, BNN serves clients locally, regionally, and globally from their five full service New England offices. BNN is ranked as a top 100 firm by Accounting Today and INSIDE Public Accounting and has received a Best of Accounting award for superior client service for five consecutive years. The firm is an independent member of HLB – the global advisory and accounting network.
