Spencer Hathaway Promoted to Assurance Principal at Baker Newman Noyes

Baker Newman Noyes (BNN), a nationally recognized top 100 accounting and advisory firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of Spencer Hathaway, CPA, to Principal in the firm’s Assurance Practice, effective January 1, 2026. This achievement reflects Hathaway’s years of dedication to the firm’s culture and success and reputation for superior service to his clients.

Hathaway specializes in audit and other attestation services for financial institutions, commercial businesses, and nonprofit and governmental clients. In addition, Hathaway has substantial experience with audits of employee benefit plans. He joined the firm in 2013, having previously interned at BNN in 2012. He is a long-time active member and supporter of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants and currently serves as Treasurer on their Board of Directors. His Society work focuses on the advancement of the accounting profession and engaging with students to foster the career pipeline.

“I am honored to be promoted to principal and serve the BNN team alongside my fellow principals and leaders,” said Hathaway. “Over the last few years, I have been participating in more department and firm strategy initiatives and shaping our internal training approach. As I settle into the principal role, I am excited to help lead these efforts for the firm and help develop our incredible staff to best serve our clients. I’m also looking forward to continuing to engage with my valued clients and foster the strong relationships I’ve been able to build as a client service professional.”

With the addition of Spencer, BNN’s principal group is now composed of 43 principals across its five offices and tax, assurance, and advisory practices. BNN is an independent regional firm with more than 300 employees serving clients nationally and internationally.

Hathaway earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and business administration, with a concentration in accounting, from the University of Maine. He resides in Topsham with his family.
