Healthcare Alert | Inpatient-Only List: Is it Here to Stay?
In a rare reversal of policy, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has indicated intent to retain the Inpatient-Only (IPO) list in the CY2022 Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) proposed rule released on July 19, 2021 (CMS-1753-P). Â It appears that CMS is taking a more cautious approach to removal of procedures in order to maintain safety for beneficiaries.
