Joan is a principal in the tax practice at Baker Newman Noyes, specializing in providing tax compliance and planning services to investment partnerships, trusts, high-net worth individuals, and professional service providers. She routinely assists clients by helping them optimize the timing and tax impact of various transactions, including exercise of stock grants and related benefits. In addition to serving clients, Joan also leads BNN’s closely held businesses tax division and professional services industry practice, and serves on BNN’s management committee.
She has been with the firm since 2004. Prior to joining BNN, Joan spent 10 years as the chief financial officer of a limited purpose trust company and an SEC regulated investment company, after also having served at one of BNN’s predecessor firms.
Joan earned a bachelor’s degree, with concentrations in accounting and finance, from the University of Maine.
