The State of Maine is unique for its year-round seasonal recreation. You can ski, skate or sled in the winter then hike, boat or relax by the water in the summer. You may get caught up in the age-old argument...what is best - ocean or lake?! Don't forget hunting and fishing in the fall.

Sports enthusiasts have it all! Portland hosts the AHL team for the Buffalo Sabres - the Portland Pirates in the winter, and the Boston Red Sox Double A team - the Portland Sea Dogs in the summer [go Slugger!].

Portland is also home to a rich arts district anchored by the Portland Museum of Art designed by I M Pei Partners, Maine College of Art and the Portland Symphony. The district includes many excellent galleries interspersed among the historic buildings and new developments of this rich community. A fun children's museum, several theaters, and other performance spaces complete the district.

Portland is approximately 100 miles from Boston, MA with all its amenities - Amtrak's Downeaster rail service is a convenient way to travel.

The Portland Airport continues to expand, attracting new airlines, including discount airlines.

According to the State of Maine Consensus Economic Forecast Commission in its 2006 Maine Policy Review, over the next five years, strong growth is projected in education and health services, professional and business services, and other industries.

BNN intends to participate in, and support this growth in the State of Maine, the City of Portland, and across the Northeastern United States.
